Discovering Spiritual Growth
                                                                                         Spiritual Growth Intro

Identification - The believer's positional identity (union) IN Christ in death (crucified with Christ) and
ressurection (newness of life as partakers of the divine nature) leading to positional living of the
"abundant life" in victory.
The purpose of this series of articles is to make spiritual growth and progress by becoming an
awakened believer by "coming into knowledge" as set forth in Romans 6. The Holy Spirit is always the
source behind revelations that awaken a believer. There are two awakenings of a believer that leads the
believer away from the
self life and into the Christ life; a life of “not I, but Christ”. 1) The realization of
self – the utter sinfulness and helplessness of oneself; and 2) the awakening of the believer’s positional
identity IN Christ [the believer's union with Christ in his death, resurrection and ascension].  The Christ
life is also a life turned from struggling to a life of appropriating the possessions the believer has in
Christ into the “Christ life”.  The struggle between the old self (flesh) and the new self is not eradicated
but the believer is freed from the enslaving power of sin.

True spiritual growth is not based on feelings or emotion; neither is it based on speed. The rate of
growth is not rapid, but rather paced. The same principles of the Harvest Principle can be applied when
it comes to the believer’s spiritual growth. When dealing with an agricultural harvest there are certain
set principles that must be applied and cannot be avoided. First the ground must be tilled, toiled,
fertilized and worked. The seed must be planted, cared for and watered. A timely process of work, labor
and caring is involved before the sower can reap a harvest. The believer can not expect an
instantaneous process of regeneration and life transformation. And how wonderful this is, that our God
would take the time to mold us and work on us with patience through a timely process of love; not in a
case of some spontaneous magic spell of perfection.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which
hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
(Phil 1:6) *note: and that’s
how long it will take; until the day of Jesus Christ.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Phil 2:13)
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before
ordained  that we should walk in them
. (Eph 2:10)

"True spiritual growth is free, but not cheap; it is gradual, deep and thorough, never sudden or
shallow; always Christ–centered, never self–centered. The Holy Spirit upholds and transmits God’s
highest. Stoop Not"! Miles Stanford

Before beginning some ground work must be established. The purpose of this class is to promote
spiritual growth by coming into understanding and knowledge of our position and identity in Christ. The
remedy for self life is identity with Christ in His death to sin (Ro 6:6)
